Addiction
Addiction is defined as not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you. Denial of addiction can prevent support being obtained. Taking the opportunity to explore the behavior you can enable positive change to you taking back control yourself.
Domestic Violence
Domestic violence can apply to anyone in your household. Not only that, but you don’t need to lay a finger on someone in order to be violent with them. Domestic violence ruins relationships and can end up in disaster if not checked. It’s a silent crime, with many cases going unreported due to their private nature.
Depression
Depression is the most commonly affected mental illness and affects people in different ways and can cause a wide variety of symptoms. They range from lasting feelings of unhappiness and hopelessness, to losing interest in the things you used to enjoy and feeling very tearful. Many people also have symptoms of anxiety.
Self-Esteem
While trying to see yourself as more important than other people is generally unhealthy, everyone deserves to recognize their full worth as a person. Unfortunately, many people tend to dwell excessively on their flaws and failures while de-emphasising their good points, which can easily lead to low self-esteem.
Anger issues
Managing anger is a skill that can be learned, much like effective communication or dealing with difficult people. Learning to control extreme emotions can be very important, preventing you from saying something you’ll later regret or making poor decisions in the heat of the moment. Although many people associate grief with being just an emotion a reaction to loss, grief can also impact an individual’s world to such an extent they can find it debilitating. Grief can be different for everyone.
Trauma
Experiencing a traumatic life event can have lasting consequences, not addressing them with can cause these effects to be much more severe and long-term than they need to be. While effective therapy won’t make your problems go away overnight it can be the first step towards dealing with whatever issues you may be facing.
Stress
Stress is one of the common reasons that people these days feel pressure in day to day life. In some instances, a small amount of stress may be normal, healthy, and even useful. However excessive amounts can lead to both physical and mental disorders that can cause things like depression, anxiety, and other issues.
Anxiety
The different anxiety disorders that are most common today can leave an individual constantly overwhelmed, uneasy, and nervous. Although some temporary anxiousness can be considered “normal,” understanding whether or not a person has an anxiety disorder can make the difference in getting the needed treatment or not.
Suicide
Strictly speaking, suicidal ideation means wanting to take your own life or thinking about suicide. However, there are two kinds of suicidal ideation: passive and active. Passive suicidal ideation occurs when you wish you were dead or that you could die, but you don’t actually have any plans to commit suicide.
Gambling Addiction
Gambling Addiction is a type of impulse-control disorder.
People with a gambling addiction are unable to control their need to gamble, and they continue gambling despite knowing their
gambling is hurting themselves or their loved ones. Denial often prevents help being sought but looking at changes can help.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder features a pattern of unreasonable thoughts and fears (obsessions) that lead you to do repetitive behaviors (compulsions). These obsessions and compulsions can interfere with daily activities and cause significant distress. By looking at these behaviors will help to rationalise them.

Frequently Asked Questions
We will begin with an initial assessment to discuss what leads you to contact me and what you would like to gain out of therapy with me. During this time information gathering on circumstances, family history and future hopes all provide useful information for effective therapy
The number of sessions you need will depend on your individual circumstances and requirements. At our assessment session, we will discuss how to take things further. Sessions may be 6, 10, 12 weeks or long term. Throughout therapy the collaborative approach ensures that we review the progress and adjust the goals of therapy if required.
I provide a charging structure between for individual and couples counselling face-to-face sessions.
- £40 per 50 minute session for individual counselling
- Limited concessions available – to be discussed on an individual basis
An initial assessment session is offered with no commitment to therapy at a rate of £25.
Cancellation Policy – Sometimes life takes over and for whatever reason we cannot always commit to appointments but we tend to know about them in advance so please allow at least 48hrs notice for your space to be offered to another client. If a session is cancelled less than 48hrs notice then the full fee is payable.
